  • I was just added to eClubhouse and posted three scores to GHIN - where is my H.I.?
  • Your Handicap Index® is updated according to a revision schedule set by the regional golf association in your area. The Handicap Index display in the Members section is a snapshot of scores that were in your scoring record prior to that effective revision date. So, if you were added on June 10, but the last revision in your area was June 5, then no Handicap Index® will appear on eClubhouse until after the next revision.

In addition, your club can only issue you a Handicap Index® after at least five scores have been posted, in accordance with the USGA Handicap System.

  • What is a handicap index?
  • A handicap is a measure of your potential playing ability. Your handicap index is measured as a number to 1 decimal place. Depending on the difficulty of the course you play, your handicap index is converted to a course handicap.

  • How do I find my course handicap?
  • You course handicap is calculated from the slope rating of the tees you play at a course. Most courses have either a table or a computer you can use to calculate your course handicap. You also can get a course handicap from the MY GAME section of this web site.

If you are really into math, you can take your handicap index multiplied by the slope rating of the tees you play divided by 113 and rounded to the nearest whole number.

  • How do I use my course handicap?
  • Using your course handicap depends on the type of round your are playing.

In regular stroke play, you take your score and subtract your course handicap to get your handicap adjusted score.

In a match play event, the number of strokes you get on a hole depnds on the rating for the hole. Any hole with a rating less than or equal to your course handicap you get a stroke. If you course handicap is more than 18, you get 1 stroke per hole plus and additional stroke for any hole with a rating less than or equal to your course handicap - 18. Any handicap strokes are subtracted from your hole score to get your handicap adjusted score for the hole.

  • What is a course rating and a slope rating?
  • The course rating is the measure of the playing difficulty of a course for a scratch golfer.

The slope rating is the relative difficulty of a course between a scratch golfer and a bogey golfer. The higher the slope rating, the tougher a course is for a bogey golfer. Also, the higher the slope rating, the more strokes your handicap index will provide for your round.

  • What happens when I play a match against someone using different tees?
  • When playing from different tees, subtract the difference between the course rating from each set of tees and round to the nearest whole number. The difference is added to the course handicap of the golfer playing from the tougher tees.

  • What is the maximum score I can post for a hole?
  • For handicap purposes, there is a maximum score you can post for any one hole. This keeps one exceptionally bad hole from unduely impacting your handicap. This is known as Equitable Stroke Control, or ESC. Before posting your round, you will need to adjust your score for any holes past the maximum allowable score.

The maximum allowable score adjusts based on your course handicap (not your index), and goes as follows:

    Equitable Stroke Control

    18 Hole Course Handicap

    Maximum Hole Score

    9 or Less

    Double Bogey

    10 through 19

    7

    20 through 29

    8

    30 through 39

    9

    40 and above

  • How is my handicap index calculated?
  • Your handicap index is calculated from the best 10 differentials of your last 20 rounds. A differential is the difference between your score and the course rating (not slope rating). It is not necessarily the best 10 of your last 20 scores. If one of the rounds was on a more difficult course, the differential may be less than a lower score on an easier course.

Your index is the average of the counted differentials multiplied by 96%.

If you have not posted 20 rounds, the minimum number of rounds to have an official index is 5. The number of rounds counted towards your index is as follows:

    Number of Scores

    Rounds Counted

    5 or 6

    Lowest 1

    7 or 8

    Lowest 2

    9 or 10

  • I just entered a score using "myStats Scores", but I made a mistake. How do I fix it?
  • Any score posted using the eClubhouse feature "myStats Scores" can be edited on eClubhouse. However, if "Post Scores to GHIN" was chosen when the score was posted, the score will have to be changed in your record on the GHIN Server as well by contacting your Golf Club.

To modify a score in eClubhouse, use the "Display/Update Rounds" option in "myStats Reports". Locate the score to be modified and chose "edit".

  • What do the Search Zip Code and Radius features do on the myGame page?
  • The "Search Zip Code" will populate the "Find Other Players", "Club News", "Upcoming Events", "My Events" and "Weather" modules with applicable public content from eClubhouse sites within a "Radius" of X mile from the center point of the Zip Code you provide. The radius default is 1.0.

Great to use when planning a golfing vacation! Find out news and events from the area you are visiting! Connect with a golfer from the area and meet up for a round of golf!

To change the Search Zip Code and populate your dashboard with content from another area, simply click the numerical Zip Code (located above the USGA Handicap Index module). Enter the new Zip Code and press "Submit". When you return from your trip - just change it back to your local Zip Code!

You can change the radius (i.e. reduce or increase the range of news/events) by using the radius drop-down box and modifying the setting.
